Great reflection... what a good practice... "Those who only look forward never walk in a straight line."

Great insights on a wonderful church, senior pastor and section of the country!

David,

Our parts do not cross at the right time. When you are in my neck of the woods...I'm far too busy. I was just in Spring Lake doing a retrerat...and you we out.
But your blog told me several things. First, that Spring Lake will be fine when you leave, because they nuture staff and people. God will bring in another like you and that person will be shaped by the Body of Christ there.
But second, that you will also be fine; for now you are now ready for the next step of faith. You have thoroughly relcted and integrated God's gift to you housed in Spring Lake, and now leaving will be both Mourning and dancing all at the same time. I do give you permission to dance to your next pastoral charge; fpr that would be sacred dance.

Hi Dave, I just checked your blog and learned of your transition. Thanks for the interaction we have had over the past couple of years. I have appreciated your writing on small groups, discipleship, community, etc!

Do you know where you are headed yet?

David S - Thanks for dropping by and giving this encouragement. And thanks for your work with our senior high students--I heard wonderful things from your teaching through Mark with them! Thanks for helping the next gen in our church grow in Christ!

Chad M - Thanks, bro. The tribe is blessed! :-)

Tim G - It's been great connecting with you too, Tim. Don't know where yet--although several fish are on the line you might say.

When I saw that position posted via wesleyan.org, I thought to myself, "whomever gets that job and gets to work with Steve Deneff, I will truly loathe" but alas, I cannot since it's you and you will do extremely well there. I am excited to see what the Creator of the Universe has in store for you and your family at College Wesleyan.

Hey Robin--thanks for dropping by. I'd love to hear from you by e-mail if you get the chance. Say hey to Ken.

Justin--well done down at the symposium representing you group, bro. And nice to know that you loathe me for a reason now. Before it was just a random loathing.

:-)

Just kidding.
